Eyes
Signs of aging around the eyes
Constantly smiling in the sunshine means a life well-lived! But the continuous movements in your facial tissues coupled with sun exposure will eventually take a toll on your skin. The delicate skin around the eyes is especially susceptible to the loss of elasticity that occurs with aging. Tiny injections around the eyes can reduce these wrinkles, allowing for subtle smoothing — without dimming your radiant beauty. Now that’s something to smile about!
Forehead
Frown lines between the eyebrows
Has anyone ever asked you what’s wrong, assuming you were upset, when you were merely thinking about what you wanted for dinner? Just like they do throughout the whole body, when muscles in the face work overtime, they become larger and stronger and tend to “rest” with some contraction. This can result in facial expressions that look like scowls, as well as deep, permanent wrinkles.
Lower Face
Wrinkles around the nose and mouth
As we age, our face not only experiences the cumulative effects of sun exposure (changes in skin texture, loss of elasticity, and hyperpigmentation), but we also lose the plumpness of youth. This causes the skin to appear loose. Wrinkles in the lower face can be caused by overactive muscles pulling the sides of the mouth down. The opposite of a smile is not a frown but “facial serenity.” Injectables will help you achieve harmonious balance in your face and let your smile shine once again.
Lips
Lack of lip fullness
Kissing, talking, laughing, eating...our lips do so much for us! Of all our features, our lips are constantly working overtime. The lip tissue is delicate and prone to changes that occur with aging that can result in a lack of plumpness, causing wrinkles in the lips and skin around the mouth. With careful application, treatments can be performed to regain volume in the lips while preserving their natural character. The result? Lips that appear hydrated, lush, supple, and youthful ― fresh and ready to keep smiling. (And kissing!)
OUR SKIN PHILOSOPHY
Our Skin Care Lines
- Alumier
- Skin Better Science
- Elastin
- Color Science
As with all medical procedures, the active ingredient determines the overall effectiveness. That’s why it’s important to seek cosmetic procedures from experts who use potent and refined active ingredients. "You get what you pay for" is especially true in this instance. The cosmetic products sold at grocery stores and beauty salons are usually safe but legally are not as strong as those sold at med spas or clinics.
When you are asking more from your skincare...
Hand cream and anti-aging serum are not the same. Medical grade skincare products are sold by a licensed medical clinician and cannot be sold over the counter, such as at a grocery store or beauty salon.
Our personal philosophy
on skin care:
While skin care products are applied every day, it takes months for them to take full effect.  Injections take effect almost immediately, but last months to years.

Our background in surgery gives us a unique fluency for anatomy. The anatomy of the face is arguably the most dynamic and complex of the whole musculoskeletal system, but it can be broken down into it's constituent layers. On the surface, we have the layers of the skin. As we go deeper, we have subcutaneous fat, muscles, ligaments and fascia, down to bone.

Having a good skin care regimen is important to maintain the layers of the skin.  There are a couple basic building blocks that work together to protect, rejuvenate, and “feed” healthy young skin: Vitamin C (antioxidant), Hyaluronic Acid (hydrating agents), Ceramides (protective barrier), retinols (stimulating and supporting rejuvenation), gentle exfoliation (encouraging new cell growth), peptides (catalyst, messengers, and essential nutrients that participate in new cell and
tissue growth), and sunscreen (to protect against destructive radiation).  Rejuvenation of the deeper layers is provided by the injection of products that work to: relax muscles, replace volume, or facilitate the rebuilding of aging facial structures.  Applying the same products to the surface of the skin does not have the same effect.

Consider the analogy of a beautiful natural landscape.  The skin is the radiant blooming plant life, and one sees immediately if the flora is nourished and vibrant, or thirsty and wanting. Next, we have the soil, which is rich and alive when maintained, or can be thin and devoid of nourishing vitality. Beneath that, we have the bedrock of the landscape. This is built up in an organic way that makes the whole space spellbinding and a thing of beauty, or it is flat, unkempt, eroded.

Can you grow brightly colored flowers from lean soil and hard earth?  Yes, it is possible.  But it requires chemicals and additives, and the result is temporary.  Like the face, there is no amount of makeup that replaces the radiant glow of a face that has been loved and tenderly cared for over the years.

How Fillers and Injectables Work

Fillers and injectables are more natural than you may think. Neuromodulators (i.e., Botox) relax the delicate muscles of the face, thereby minimizing and preventing wrinkles, allowing the skin to become smooth, bright, and refreshed. Many types of fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally present in the body. Hyaluronic acid works by pulling moisture into the skin. In maintaining skin hydration, it also aids in healing to regenerate the tissues, creating radiant and youthful-looking skin.

SCULPTRA: The first and original PLLA collagen stimulator that has been clinically shown to reduce wrinkles, firm the skin, and improve skin quality.

FAQ

How long will the results of my treatment last?
How long your results will last depends on the type of treatment you get. Generally, Tox (Dysport/Botox) will last between 3 and 6 months. As the muscles weaken, your treatments tend to last a little longer. Some people metabolize tox faster than others, such as those who enjoy regular vigorous exercise. The longevity of filler can range from 6 months to 1-2 years depending on the product used. Biostimulators, such as Sculptra, will last however long your native collagen lasts - typically 2-5 years. We are happy to discuss with you in further detail at a consultation!
After my procedure, how much downtime will I need?
Any discomfort you experience after your treatment should be very minimal, similar to that after a deep facial. Small marks may be visible right after the treatment, but these will fade within 12 hours. You may also experience a minimal amount of swelling, and on rare occasions, bruising. Bruising can be minimized by avoiding alcohol 24 hours prior to injections and anti-inflammatories (Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Aspirin) several days prior to injections.
How should I prepare for my consultation and treatment?
Other than ensuring you are ready to take this step of self-investment, there’s not much to prepare. As for skin prep prior to your treatment, if you haven’t yet cleansed your skin of makeup, we will handle that for you.
What if I am not happy with my results?
Here at XUNA, we take a preventative approach in a variety of ways, ensuring 100% customer satisfaction. Ashlee and Sundance start very gradually to help create your custom treatment plan and schedule follow-up appointments to determine what is best for you. Throughout this gradual process, we empower you to decide what’s best for you. We are committed to producing the highest quality results by getting to know you in general, along with your vision and skin goals.

That being said, injections are not permanent, and the effects of the treatment will wear off with time.

How much time will I need for my procedure?
Our time together is about you, and we don’t want to rush that. Follow-up appointments after your initial treatment can be done more quickly. We encourage our patients to take this opportunity to really care for themselves and turn their appointment into a day of self-love. Whatever it is that makes you feel pampered, do that!

Lasting skin treatment,
curated just for you.
